A 4 star, Boutique Hotel in Palma near the marina

What we say

The Hotel Palau Sa Font - vibrant colours, modern art works and designer furniture welcome guests to the spacious reception and bar area. The funky bold decor is in contrast to the ancient old town outside, and is proving a hit with Palma's stylish visitors. The bedrooms are spread out on each level and are hip yet calm and soothing.  All come with modern comforts, cleverly hidden behind aesthetic facades to add an uncluttered, sleek style. For relaxation, the former palace has an open courtyard complete with loungers and designer swimming pool.

If you think that a 16th century building with a historic background could be intriguing … If you like warm, familiar atmosphere … If you are attracted to architectural design contrasts and lack of ostentation … If you prefer buying at the village shop rather than the shopping center … that "old fashioned" kind of service – not in the sense of butlers and valets – but given by the easy-going and charming staff, with a real connection to the place. If you enjoy the presence of art displayed in a unique and subtle way, original handmade furniture, and Mediterranean-shaded floors … If you appreciate the convenience of staying in the heart of the old town, just two minutes away from museums, restaurants and shops, but still secluded at the quiet end of a lively street … then you have found the right place!

This is an ideal place to recharge the batteries before hitting the near-by shops, good restaurants and bustling nightlife. This is because the hotel offers to lend you as much or as little assistance as you desire, so that you feel looked after, but relaxed. And they love what they do, so they are always pleased to see regular guests, and also look forward to meeting new ones.

YACHTSMEN & CREW: If you are looking for a hotel near to Palma's marina, whilst avoiding the "corporate hotels" on the front, the Palau Sa Font is a 2-3 minute walk from the pontoons...

Lastly, its worth a note to mention that the hotel has a reputation as one of the best breakfasts in town (non-guests by request only!)

Reviews from the press:

  • "Palma's funkiest hotel is located in the city's medieval quarter and occupies a 16th-century palace. There are nineteen cool, uncluttered rooms, including four suites, with doors doubling as artists' canvases. The relaxed staff are happy and equally happy to let you get on with it." - Conde Nast Traveller (UK)
  • "Warm Mediterranean tones and crisp, clean lines give this boutique hotel an atmosphere very different from anything else in Palma. A 16th-century Episcopal palace, restored as a hotel in 2000, it has ample rooms with linen curtains and plump comforters. From the terrace in the tower, you have 360-degree views of Palma's old quarter. Pros: Buffet breakfast until 11, helpful English-speaking staff, chic design. Cons: Pool is small, surroundings can be a bit noisy in midsummer." - Fodor's
  • "This 16th-century palace was successfully converted into one of Majorca's most charming boutique hotels. It's located a 3-minute walk from the harbor, and a 15-minute walk from the cathedral. The atmosphere is a bit funky unless you like jelly-bean colors. Distressed iron and island stone add more traditional notes. Especially popular with English visitors, this has been called the hippest place to stay in the Old Town by some London tabloids. The place is imbued with atmosphere. Designers transformed the guest rooms into a blend of modern and traditional." - Frommer's
  • "Tucked away on a quiet side street just beyond the buzz of one of Palma's main nightlife districts, this former 16th-century palace offers 19 sparsely decorated rooms. Wrought iron beds and a few splashes of colour in the form of a pale green headboard or a simple red chair give the rooms a feeling of almost monastic calm." - Lonely Planet
