Cala Ratjada to Cala Mesquida Cycling Route

Easy cycle through pine filled hills & pretty beaches in the north east

featured in Cycling routes Updated

Although parts of this route can be tricky to negotiate for the less seasoned bikers it is worth the effort to enjoy the beautiful beaches.

Depart from the main beach in Cala Ratjada, Cala Moll. Head north along the coast to Cala Gat, another small beach. From here you can take a small diversion to visit Punta de Capdepeera with it's viewpoint and light house, or continue on to Cala Agulla. There is another lovely beach here.

Follow the beach until the far end, where you will find a track to the left. Turn left and follow along a difficult road for 1 km until you arrive at a barrier. (If you don't want to go over the beach, you can back track and take country lanes as illustrated on the picture map). Passing through the barrier (remembering to shut it behind you) continue along a paved straight road. After 2 km you reach the main road. By turning right you pass through beautiful countryside and after 4 km you arrive at Cala Mesquida. At the entrance roundabout, take the road to the right to arrive at a wonderful beach and sand dunes.

For the return journey, take the same road, turning left to leave the main road. After 1 km you see a turn off to the right indicating Cala Agulla. Continue along a paved road for 1 km until you arrive at a crossroad. Turn left and after 1 km you shall arrive at Cala Agulla and from here you continue to Cala Ratjada.

Points of Interest: In Cala Ratjada, the Sa Torre Cega villa opens its doors to visitors by prior appointment, which can be arranged at the Tourism Office. It's gardens contain sculptures by such great artists as Rodin. On this route you will travel through woods and coves of great beauty.
