Tristan Restaurant, Puerto Portals
Refined Gastronomy
Of all harbours on the Balearic Islands Puerto Portals on Majorca is the only one that can be considered in a class with Monte Carlo or Porto Cervo. The harbour that lies 7km south west of the capital of the island, Palma de Majorca, stands out not only with the luxury yachts belonging to the leading lights of the international who’s-who but also with an unusual diversity of life-style boutiques and a wide ranging portfolio of gastronomic establishments the likes of which it would be difficult to encounter elsewhere.

First and foremost of these is the 1 Michelin starred gourmet restaurant Tristan that held two stars for a period of 19 years and has for over 23 years impressed its discriminating clientele with constant gastronomic innovation and creativity as well as exceptional luxury.
The wave design of the roof, that for years has been the immediately recognisable architectonic trade mark of the restaurant, remains a distinctive feature to welcome visitors on their arrival.
Lying directly on the harbour front the maritime look of the gourmet temple has had new lustre added with the addition of glass doors that can be variably opened or closed according to weather conditions. Wherever you sit you are ensured a unique view of the priceless yachts in the harbour front line and the flexible sun sails in the roof control the light perfectly.
The wooden beams that have been integrated in the roof complement the teak flooring to create an unparalleled Mediterranean feel-good ambience. The elegant design interior and the subdued lighting created specifically for the purpose reflect the innovation and creativity of the kitchen. A high quality table culture of extravagant Versace table platters and silver cutlery from Robbe & Berking set the individual dishes, served on superior porcelain, perfectly in scene. A walkthrough wine bodega with over 800 wine titles and meticulously chosen water and coffee specialities create the corresponding harmony to Gerhard Schwaiger’s exquisite creations. The charming welcome given by Beate Kirchleitner, complemented by the observant and ever attentive service of the staff led by Maître and Chef Sommelier Alejandro Velázquez, guarantee a unique visit to Restaurant Tristán.
It goes without saying that the restaurant can also be used as a venue for banquets, presentations, or private celebrations of up to 150 people.
One person is at the heart and the soul of this undertaking and that person is Gerhard Schwaiger. Numerous awards from various prominent gourmet guides were crowned for 20 years with 2 stars from the prestigious “gourmet bible” the Guide Rouge from Michelin. Gerhard Schwaiger’s annual lectures in San Sebastian, one of the best known gourmet workshops in Europe, as well as weekly essays in regional and national newspapers and magazines have contributed to his reputation as one of the most respected names in the culinary circles of Europe. One of Schwaiger’s most important conceptual ideas was his re-creation of the centuries old Spanish Tapas tradition in 2002. Gerhard Schwaiger felt inspired by many of the tapas variations he has created over the years to conceive a menu, bringing back to the table classical dishes from this period. Gourmets with experimental tastes can look forward the newest culinary combinations in the "Tasting Tapas Menu". By combining a sense of well-being both for the body and for the palate, we remain true to our motto - just enjoy.
