Yesterday saw the municipal council voting on the matter in a motion put forward by the group, Mallorca Sense Sang (Bloodless Mallorca).

It now becomes one of sixteen towns in Mallorca to reject bullfighting and the associated festivities. While the debate still goes on within the Mallorca Council regarding the fate of bullfighting, which is not likely to be banned across the Island but instead left to individual municipalities to decide, many towns have already backed the motion by Mallorca Sense Sang and outlawed the sport.

Sant Joan now joins Muro, Consell, Esporles, Puigpunyent, Deia, Campanet, Manacor, Santa Margalida, Lloseta, Porreres, Algaida, Capdepera, Santa Maria del Cami, Sencelles and Arta.
