The charming marina at Port d'Andratx is enhancing its appeal for billionaires with the creation of seven new superyacht berths. The town has become one of the most sought-after among wealthy travellers with property prices soaring in the last few years.

The new docking sites will have space for boats from 26 to 30 metres, and the project also involves the construction of 34 parking spaces. Works were approved by the Balearic Government in December last year and they have been budgeted at around 2 million euros.

There is no denying that the area has turned from a fishing port to a classy marina. In the words of Lorenzo Vila, director of the longest-established motoryacht charter company in Mallorca, easyboats: "We have seen the transformation from humble fishing village to millionaires’, and billionaires’, playground. While the fishing industry still very much exists, the Port’s image is now very upscale with high-end restaurants, eight-figure-price-tag villas and superyachts on the scene".

Not only that, but Mallorca's shipyards expect a busy winter with the island becoming a hotspot for yacht repair. The companies dedicated to boat maintenance and refit have grown since 2008, and now employ around 3000 people.
