Pop, Rock & Dance Music in Mallorca

Mallorca manages to attract its fair share of well known international artists to play in one of its many venues - Palma Arena, the ONO (football) stadium, Palma Auditorium, with other venues scattered across the island. 2010 saw concerts by The Cranberries, China Crisis, and Placebo. The legendary DJ Carl Cox performed with fellow DJ's Andy Cato and Tom Findlay (better known as Groove Armada) in August 2010 at the Sports Arena at an all-night festival in Can Picafort in the north of the island. And in September 2010, Elton John will give a concert along with Andrea Bocelli at the Ono Palma de Mallorca football stadium.

Magaluf plays host to the most happening dance music and clubbing scene, with Mallorca Rocks and BCM Planet Dance hosting plenty of parties during the summer season. Mallorca Rocks usually has a well respected line-up of current artists and their schedule is well worth looking up. Their concerts run from the end of May until mid-Septmber. BCM Planet Dance is a vast nightclub with all the usual parties and go-go dancers, plus an impressive guest DJ list (think Tiesto, Tinie Tempah, N-dubz, Calvin Harris, Labrinth, Far East Movement, Laidback Luke, DJ Sammy, Cascada, Eddie Halliwell, Judge Jules, Howard Donald, Krafty Kuts, Kutski, Mickey Slim, Mistajam, Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, DJ Semtex and Roll Deep - if you're into your dance music!).

The local music scene is also worth checking out. Many bars in Palma feature live music. The bars in the Can Barbara area of the city (a little marina up by the cruise ship terminal) have DJ nights and a selection of live music - Garito Cafe and Woodys are particulalry recommended.
