Jazz Music & Festivals in Mallorca

Jazz music is well represented in Mallorca, with festivals throughout the island, and a number of jazz clubs in Palma. Less formal jazz music is often played in bars and cafes, and some restaurants arrange for musicians to play in the background on special evenings.

Sa Pobla Jazz Festival

The Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla Festival began in 1995 and brings a mix of jazz and blues to the scene. The festival takes place in August, with concerts being held in the evenings. Traditional jazz musicians are joined by contemporary artists with innovative interpretations. The weekly concerts are free and take place in both the Plaza Major and the new area of the Can Cirera Prim park. Jazz Voyeur Festival, Palma de Mallorca

The Jazz Voyeur Festival takes place mainly during the autumn each year at venues throughout Palma (for example, Bellver Castle, the Auditórium, the Misericordia, the Teatre Principal, the Conservatory). The organisers aim to bring the stars of international jazz to both a local and international audience. Alcudia Jazz Festival

Alcudia Jazz festival offers different styles of jazz, with the odd nod to gospel and blues. Artists of national and international renown perform in a series of five concerts each Friday in September. The performances take place in Ca’n Torró library (free with an invite) and in the Auditori d’Alcudia (for which there is an entry charge). Jazz Voyeur Club, Palma

The Jazz Voyeur Club is in the heart of old town in La Llonja of Palma de Mallorca, set in a sixteenth century mansion. It follows in the tradition of the old Jazz Coffee Bar in Brussels and Barcelona, and has a permanent photography exhibition. Live music is performed every night except Mondays from 10pm onwards.

Blue Jazz Club, Palma

The Blue Jazz Club is located in the Saratoga Hotel, located in the old town near Avenue Jaime III. Jazz artists perform every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 11h00 p.m. and 01h00 a.m. The club has a capacity of 150 and restaurant service is available.

Bluesville Bar, Palma

An informal bar that has live music every night, mainly blues, but with some funk, reggae and a bit of rock thrown in too. It's located in the old town of Palma, behind the Passeig Born. Kick off is around midnight.
