Ciudad Jardin Beach, Mallorca

Friendly ‘Blue Flag’ beach in the Bay of Palma

featured in Beaches Updated

The small resort town of Ciudad Jardin lies around five kilometres east of Palma. Its beach, also commonly referred to as ‘Ciutat Jardi’, lies alongside a quiet promenade lined with palm trees, offering a huge variety of different styled bars and restaurants.

Sun loungers and parasols are available to rent, along with the added bonus of public showers with toilets. Here, you’ll find excellent wheelchair access, lifeguards on duty, and a sizeable playground nearby, making this one of Mallorca’s more family friendly shores.

Beach Bars & Beach Clubs
A number of smart restaurants and cafes have opened up along the sea-front, and although some of the buildings are still a little bit shabby, there is a definite Miami-South Beach feel to the place.

Setting & Location

Located in the middle of Palma Bay, the luxury resort of Ciudad Jardi was originally built in the late 19th century and now has several trendy cafes and restaurants lining its ‘Miami Beach-esque’ seafront. Close to Palma’s international airport, Cuidad Jardin lies east of the city centre, along the bay from Portixol and Molinar. The majority of residents are local Spanish, which helps to maintain the relaxed and friendly ambience despite swarms of summer tourists.

Water Safety & Clarity

The wonderful beach here is gentle and welcoming, located in a shallow bay with calm, lapping and crystal-clear waters as well as an estuary on its western side. Manmade piers also help protect the bay from any stronger waves.

Beach Quality

This spacious beach offers 450 metres of fine white sand and is 35 metres deep. Alongside fantastic south-westerly views of the Bay and Palma, an adjacent promenade runs all the way into Palma’s city centre or further east to S’Arenal and its neighbouring bay of Playa de Palma. The proximity to Palma’s airport is superb if you have a high changeover of guests… and less great if you’re after peace, tranquillity, or quieter skies.

Watersports Nearby

Whilst there aren’t any water sports available here, you’ll find several people roller blading/cycling/or touring on segways along the promenade behind the beach. The neighbouring beach of Playa de Palma is just a little further along the coast for those after some action in the water.

Directions

With plenty of on street parking in the surrounding residential streets, this beach is very easy to get to. The main bus line from Palma towards the airport runs directly along the main road, just 500 metres above the beach.
