One of the easiest ways to explore the island is to pick up a hire car and drive along one of the many country lanes. Mallorca is fairly large and it would take many days to drive through and around the whole island. The roads in the west of the island in particular are very beautiful - the twisting mountainous roads take you to glorious viewpoints and charming villages. Journey times always take longer than you think - particularly in summer when the roads are busy, but also because you will want to stop regularly to take in the scenery and the views. We have put together a couple of suggested routes here to start you off on your exploration.
