Mallorca Carnival - Sa Rua & Sa Rueta

Parades & entertainments at the start of Lent

Categorised in:

Each year Mallorca celebrates the onset of Lent with street parties and parades. Most towns will be having their own carnival over the weekend, with the largest parties to be found in Palma.

Mallorca celebrates carnival with street parties, live music, food & drink and colourful fancy dress parades named Sa Rueta - the children's event -, and Rua - the adult's parade.

In Palma, the Sa Rueta is the children's carnival and parade and takes place on Sunday morning from 10:30 to 13:30 (from Plaça del Mercat to Avenida d'Antoni Maura).

Sa Rua is the adult version and is held from 17:00 on Sunday. There are prizes for the best costumes and the procession will march down Passeig de Mallorca, Avenida Jaime III onto the Passeig del Born and Avenida d'Antoni Maura.
