The majority of hotel chains in Mallorca are satisfied with this years tourism season with only 4% saying their season has been worse than in 2011. 58% of hotels have said the season has been similar to that of last year and 38% say it has significantly improved.

Research organisation Gadeso issued the surveys to Majorcan hoteliers to understand how profits have been effected by the busy tourism season this year. 17% of hoteliers surveyed revealed that profits were up from last year and 76% say they are the same as 2011, resulting in 93% of hoteliers improving or equalling their economic expectations.

Only 12% of hotel chains have increased prices to help increase their profits, with the majority of hotels keeping their prices the same as last year and only 6% of hotels lowering prices. Therefore it has been the vast number of holiday makers visiting Mallorca that has helped increase profits rather than a price rise. Only 1% of hoteliers reported a fall in number of customers with 85% having a higher occupancy than in 2011.

Despite the busy summer season there are now only 34% of the hotel rooms available in Mallorca as 80% of hotels close between September/October and will not open again until February/March.
