ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) has announced that it will be holding it's annual travel convention in Palma de Mallorca from 3-5th October 2011. It is expected that around 1000 members of the organisation will attend the conference which is to be held in the Pueblo Espanol (Spanish Village).

The programme is yet to be announced but it is expected that financial protection in the event of members going bust will be a hot topic. In addition to the conference sessions, there will be opportunities for delegates to explore Majorca with a variety of events and parties.

ABTA was founded in 1950 and currently has 1,309 members with 5,224 outlets. Members include travel agents, tour operators and support services right across the spectrum from small family-owned businesses to the largest tour operators. It is the largest travel association in the UK and its members provide 90% of the foreign package holidays in the UK as well as selling millions of independent travel arrangements.

The Spanish Village is located in the Son Españolet district of Palma de Mallorca. It features recreations of traditional Spanish architecture - houses, palaces, churches, fortresses - throughout its Islamic & Christian history. The event is likely to attract a strong line-up of speakers and will obtain strong press coverage in the UK.
