Alcudia Fira 2010

featured in News & reviews Author Nicola Henderson, Site Editor Updated

Alcudia this weekend is celebrating it's annual Fira - three days of markets, carnival and street parties. This is more than just an agricultural fair, with many local craftsmen and local producers taking the opportunity to present their wares in the hundreds of street stalls. In addition to handicrafts, local wines, meats and cheeses are presented for you to try-before-you-buy.

On Saturday 2nd October, there are plenty of stands and exhibitions to see, with music and bands playing throughout the old town. The S'Estol del Rei en Jaume - a traditional parade of 'big-head giants' representing the local people - takes place at 4.30pm, it's a great way to teach the local children about local Balearic history and culture. The party continues into the night with more music and dancing, and general revelry.

Sunday the 3rd sees more market action, a dog agility show, horse displays and a classic car rally, and music into the evening with local bands. With the glorious sunny weather set to continue, it's a great day out for all the family - enjoy the spectacle!
