Andrew Gwatkin will take over from Paul Abery at the British Consul as Abrey moves on to work in the banking sector in Canada. Gwatkin is also responsible for the British Consul in Barcelona. He is currently visiting the area and having meetings with the president of the Balearics.

During Gwatkin's visit he said that he looks forward to looking after the millions of visitors to the Balearics and all British expatriates that live here. He also hopes to boost commercial links between the Balearics and British companies.

Gwatkin is taking over from Paul Abrey who was the British Consulate for seven years. Abrey will now return to the private banking sector working for one of Canada's leading banks in Toronto. Abrey worked his last day at the British Consul last week.

Before heading off to Canada there will be a farewell party open to everyone in the community at 13.30 on the 1st December at Mood in Costa D'en Blanes. Tickets are €25 which includes a glass of cava, half a bottle of wine and a Mood's luxury buffet.
