A British woman was hospitalized this weekend in Mallorca after she was hit by a speeding car in the beach resort of Magaluf. In the same weekend an Irish man was taken to hospital after falling six metres from a balcony in the resort of Santa Ponsa on the other side of the Calvia peninsula.

The hit and run occurred at 4am on the streets of Punta Ballena on the edge of Magaluf and Police are searching for the red Peugeot 306 that drove into a crowd of people causing back and leg injuries to the victim.

The accident in Santa Ponsa in which a 22 year old Irish man fell from a fourth floor balcony led to the young man being taken to hospital after losing consciousness twice at the scene. Initially it was thought that he was trying to cross from his balcony to that of his friends but further investigation by the police has revealed that there had been a fight and that he was maybe trying to flee. Police are waiting to question the young man in hospital.
