In response to the request by the Mallorcan Government, property owners have removed all the barriers and driveway gates on the Lluc to Pollenca hiking path, prior to the date in which Public Right of Way groups said they would remove them if owners did not do so themselves.

Public Right of Way groups had threatened to remove the barriers during a walk planned for this Sunday, 25th November. All owners of property along the path were formally asked by the Consell de Mallorca to remove gates to let the public pass through. There were a total of 15 points on this section of path where the public could not cross.

The Lluc to Pollensa path makes up stage 6 of the GR221 Dry Stone Walk and begins (or ends) at the Lluc Monastery.

Parts of the Lluc Monastery are undergoing work to restore the roof that was damaged during hurricane force winds earlier this year. 30,000 people bought and signed roof tiles to help fix the roof but it has recently been confirmed that these tiles will not be used on the roof but in another part of the monastery. A spokesperson for the Heritage department said it is still not certain where the tiles will be used.
