President-elect, Jose Ramon Bauza, named his new cabinet ministers this week.  He appointed just six minsters and one vice-president, almost halving the size of the previous Socialist led coalition. In a bid to save the indebted Balearics over 26 million euros he has also reduced the number of departmental administration posts from 66 to 31.

Former mayor of Calvia, Carlos Delgado, has been appointed Minister for Tourism and Sport, a move welcomed by the tourist industry and business sectors of Mallorca. During his investiture speech on Wednesday, Bauza named tourism as a key focus for the new government. Delgado's experience as mayor in one of Mallorca's most important tourist destinations should serve him well in his new position.

Bauza will be officially sworn in as the new President of the Balearics tomorrow evening. The ceremony will take place at the Consolat del Mar, Palma de Mallorca, the Balearic government's headquarters.
