The Beaches of Sant Elm and Camp de Mar and the Sailing Club in Port d'Andratx have been awarded Blue Flags for the summer 2013 taking the total of Blue Flag Beaches in Mallorca to 29.

This year there have been a few beaches in Mallorca that have lost their Blue Flag; Oratori, Font de Sa Cala, Cala Marcal, Cala Ferrera and Cala Mondrago have all had their status reduced since last year, but Spanish Beaches still have more Blue Flags than any other countries involved in the programme.

The Blue Flag can be awarded to a beach or marina that offers information about the environment and local eco-systems, offers high standards of water quality and certain facilities and safety services. Of the 60 member countries Spain has the most flags with 648 and this year the Balearics were awarded 46 flags in total.
