British holidaymaker, Thomas Day, was found dead yesterday in a ravine in Mallorca. It is believed the twenty four year old lost his footing while climbing with friends in the Mortitx valley in the North East of Mallorca.

The canyon is popular with climbers and abseilers. Day was climbing the ravine late in the evening while the rest of the group waited for him below. When they realised he was missing the friends initially searched for him themselves, calling the emergency services a few hours later when they failed to find him.

In the early hours of the morning the search team pulled the body of the missing climber from a pool at the base of the ravine. A police spokesman said there was nothing to suggest this was other than a tragic accident. The autopsy is expected to confirm whether he was killed by the fall or if he drowned in the pool at the bottom.
