Briton held on remand after fatal attack in Magaluf
Thomas Swannell was yesterday jailed without bail by a court in Palma after he was accused of killing fellow Briton Clive Vigors late last Friday night. He has been charged with intentional homocide and will remain in prison until his trial. The fatality occured after the two men got into an argument during a night out in Magaluf.
The coroner reported that Gary Vigors had died after he had been repeatedly stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle, allegedly wielded by Mr Swannell. The bottle cut Mr Vigor's jugular vein and he bled to death outside Plaza Cafe in Magaluf. The motive for the crime has not been revealed. Spanish police attempted to interview Mr Swannell on Saturday, but the suspect remained under the influence of alcohol from the previous night and was unable to produce a testimony. Mr Swannell was in Majorca to support his local cricket team, Finedon Dolben CC who were due to play two matches against Mallorca Cricket Club.
Mr Vigors was on holiday in Mallorca with friends to celebrate a birthday. He leaves behind a partner of 13 years and a young daughter.
