Cavendish & Wiggins at training camp in Mallorca

Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins joined their Great Britain and Team Sky team mates for a second training camp on Mallorca last week.

It is common practise for the professional cycling community to head to warmer climes for pre-season training. And Mallorca, with its mild winters and diverse terrain, is clearly the preferred choice for the Sky & GB camps this year.

Cavendish’s racing debut with Sky will be at the Tour of Qatar, from 5th - 10th February, and Wiggins begins his season with the Tour of the Algarve (15th - 19th February).

The two have high hopes for 2012. Cavendish aims to defend his green jersey at this year’s Tour de France. He also has his sights set on victory in the road race at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Olympic gold winner, Wiggins, is aiming for overall classification in the Tour de France, after breaking his collarbone in last year’s event. Five days after the Tour de France concludes, exactly 6 months from today, the Olympics begins and Wiggins is hoping to add to his collection of six Olympic medals.

Mallorca is a great destination for all levels of cyclist. For more information read our guide to cycling in Mallorca.
