Christmas Markets in Mallorca 2012

Stock up on festive delights at several Christmas markets throughout the island

Many of the towns and villages in Mallorca organise Christmas markets and fairs for folks to buy gifts, Christmas decorations and generally have a merry time with a glass of festove cheer. Here are some of the best ones.

Isabel Guarch will be running a pop-up shop during the 13th December - 24th December selling stunning pieces of jewellery that reflect the island of Mallorca. The pop up shop is on Calle Veri, 7 Entresuelo in Playa de Palma and open between 11am-8pm.

This Sunday (16th December) there will also be a small fair, a 'fireta' in Muro which begins at 9am. At 12.30pm the council will present the second edition of 'sa guia de Muro' which is a tour of the town demonstrating and showing off cultural activities in Muro.

Also this weekend is Valldemossa's Christmas Fair, it runs from 10.00am to 6.00pm at the Placa de la Cartuja by the monastery. The Christnas market at Puigpunyent is on Sunday 16th December from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

In Pla de Natesa (Marratxi) this sunday an Almond Milk Fair will be held. Beginning at 9.30am, the fira lasts all day with a display of both nocturnal and diurnal birds of prey, a receital of The Story of the Three Kings of the Orient, collection of letters written to the Three Kings and performances from the Marratxi band.

The small town of Bunyola celebrates it's Christmas fair which starts today with with Christmas food on the 21st December at 1pm. On Christmas Eve there is a chocolate fair which starts at 10.30am. The town will also hold a special bingo on the 4th to celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings.

On Sunday 16th Capdepera kick off their festive calendar with a Christmas Market beginning at 10am and lasting until 2pm. In the evening of the 19th December the Kairos Foundation will be receiting Christmas stories in the library of Capdepera and the following day a music school will be performing at 6pm.

The Christmas fairs in Alaro begin today with a Christmas market followed by the local music band passing through the streets of Alaro. Other festive events happening in Alaro will be in the New Year as the town prepared for the arrival of the Three Kings. This includes a celebration and concerts with the arrival of the Kings.

In Palma the annual Christmas fair began on the 25th November including an ice rink. Open from 10am-10pm ice skating costs €5 for 25minutes. At the fair you can also buy christmas trees and decorations. Most stalls are in Placa Espanya, Placa Major and Las Ramblas. '
