Two of the finest cycling champions of this generation are confirmed to compete in Mallorca's Iberostar Challenge Ciclista event next February. Spain's Alberto Contador and Australian Cadel Evans are both winners of the Tour de France and they join an already illustrious line-up that includes Andy & Frank Schleck.

Contador is currently fighting a doping case with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He tested positive for clenbuterol which can improve aerobic capacity and he could receive a two year ban from competing. Contador and his team Saxo Bank are confident that the ban will be overturned due to the tiny amounts of the drug that were detected.

Cadel Evans is the reigning Tour de France champion and will be starting his 2012 season in Majorca. He forms part of the BMC team that has already committed a large team to the Mallorca Challenge race. Other World Tour teams competing at the event include RadioShack, Team Sky, Katusha, Lotto-Belisol & Omega Pharm-Quick Step.

Team Sky is currently in Mallorca at a training camp. Two of its British stars, Mark Cavendish & Bradley Wiggins, are yet to announce if they will be competing in the Mallorca Challenge. The race will be taking place from 5th to the 9th February 2012 - for further information about the race, please see the Vuelta Mallorca website.
