The Post Office have published their “Holiday Costs Barometer” and the results look good for anyone planning a holiday in Mallorca.

The barometer is a price comparison chart which compares the cost of ten popular holiday items including a cup of coffee, sun cream and a three course meal with wine. The total price of the ten items is then added and a percentage increase or decrease from the previous year is calculated.

Although the pound is worth 4.5% less than last year the cost of visiting Mallorca, as calculated by the Post Office, has dropped 8.8% since last year and Spain came out as the cheapest holiday destination of all.

Of the twenty destinations in the chart Mallorca ranked as the fifth cheapest with the total price for the ten items surveyed coming to £55.46. Surprisingly neighbouring Menorca was far higher on the list with a total price of £88.22 but everywhere seemed cheap compared to Dubai where the cost of holiday living came to £103.23 after a price rise of 66% from last year.

So your money will go further in Mallorca than in Blackpool or Bournemouth and you are more likely to get a tan, summer holiday booking just got easier.
