Danish company, the Theme Park Club Group (TPG), presented officials in Mallorca with plans for a new theme park, yesterday. The regional government, including the president Jose Ramon Bauza, and councils for both Palma and Llucmajor attended the meeting.

The cost of the leisure complex is estimated to be between €200-€300m, all of which will be funded privately, according to the group. A decision on the location of the park will be made in the coming weeks. Areas currently under consideration are reportedly Palma and a location between Llucmajor and Campos. It is thought the most obvious choice is the bay of Palma.

The 110 hectare park is due to have five distinct areas, one of which will focus on Mallorca and the island's history and heritage. There will also be a ‘tropical' themed space, as well as ‘pirate' inspired attractions.

The theme park is due to be in place before the next regional elections in 2015. During construction an estimated 2,000 people will be employed, with around 800 staff working in high season, once the park is open.
