June 21st is traditionally the first day of summer in Mallorca and this year forecasters are predicting sun and high temperatures on the Majorca beaches and all over the island. The Spring here on Mallorca has been unusually hot with temperatures reaching 33 degrees at the end of April and leaving us with a very dry few months with less than 50% of the usual rain fall.

The forecasters are predicting that this summer will see temperatures rise 1 to 2 degrees above normal and that heat waves are to be expected. The highest recorded temperature was in 1994 when the thermometer topped out at 44.2 degrees. Hopefully we won't see the mercury rising that high, although last night the thermometer outside El Corte Ingles read 37degrees at 7.30pm.

Keep up to date with the weather forecast it's going to be Scorchio. Scorchio. Scorchio.
