Good Behaviour Regulations Set to Come into Force in Palma
No more swimwear or open air drinking in the city centre
Palma City council are still planning to bring into effect the Ordenanza Cívica on the 1st of May, which will see a move towards regulating "good behaviour" for tourists and local residents alike.
As we reported back in December, a ban on people wearing bikinis in public areas is potentially going to come into effect soon.
There will be fines for people going topless or wearing swimwear away from the beaches, and now a ban on drinking alcohol in the streets of the capital city. They're hoping this will also cut down on noise disturbance from larger groups that congregate drinking together.
Fines will also be given to customers who use street prostitutes, but not the prostitutes themselves.
We spoke to the town hall yesterday to confirm how large these fines are likely to be, and they told us they are still finalising details - a few more meetings are going to take place before the details are released. We'll keep you posted.
