Mallorca holiday season extended until October 20th

Bookings keep hotels in Mallorca open for two more weeks of summer

There has been a positive increase in the number of hotel bookings for holiday resorts in Mallorca for September and October. The beach resorts from Playa de Palma, Palmanova and Magaluf in the south west up to Cala Millor, and Alcudia in the north have extended their summer for an extra two weeks as a result.

Many of the hotels across Mallorca already have bookings until the third week of October and as a result the end of season date has been moved from the end of the first week to the end of the third. Hoteliers in the Palmanova-Magaluf area report that the UK is the fastest growing market but that there is a surprising number of visitors coming from Holland, Scandinavia and Russia.

"September is showing exceptional behaviour, hence it will be the most profitable month of the season, much higher than in other years." said the Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM) "The level of tourists is higher and there is greater purchasing power, which is noted in the car rental companies."

The ever reliable Germans have maintained a stable level of booking throughout September and it is hoped that this trend will continue into October.

It looks like the summer in Mallorca is far from over. The weather at the moment is perfect with hot and sunny days and cool evenings. The resorts are quieter now and as we move into October it's the perfect time to visit Mallorca for golf, hiking and cycling, sports that until recently it was too hot to enjoy.
