Rafael Nadal won the Barcelona Open in straight sets against fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro on Sunday. Mallorca born Nadal took his eighth Barcelona Open title in nine years in just an hour and a half.

After a slow start that saw the world number five loose the first three games Nadal found his rhythm and finished the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-3.

The win in Barcelona is Nadal's fourth this season in six tournament finals. Although he lost in Monte Carlo to Novak Djokovic only eight days ago this win bodes well for Manacor's first son as he makes a come-back after seven months out of the game due to a knee injury. Nadal will be hoping to carry this winning form into next month's French Open where he will defend his title.
