Despite the general doom and gloom surrounding the Spanish economy, there are Mallorcan companies out there who are bucking the trend. Online gaming start-up PlaySpace has just agreed a deal with venture capitalist company PeopleFund with help from Faraday Ventures, worth $1.9 million.

PlaySpace has only been running for seven months and has already introduced several traditional-style social and multi-player online games for the Spanish and Portuguese speaking market. Games such as Ludo, Bingo and Dominoes have helped to build their gamer community to over 3 million users, available on social networks such as Facebook.

PlaySpace was founded in 2011 by Alfonso Villar and Enrique Dubois in Palma. This investment will create more jobs and help them break into the lucrative market in the USA and Latin America.
