One of Mallorca's best hopes for a medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games will take to the mat this morning in the Women's Taekwondo. 31 year old Brigitte Yagüe Enrique from Palma de Mallorca will represent Spain this morning in the - 49kg class at the ExCel in London.

Brigitte faces one of the youngest competitors at the Games, the 16 year old Panamanian Carolena Carstens. Although the Mallorcan has won three golds at the World Championships in 2003, 2007 and 2009 her record at the Olympics has not been so good. In Athens she was eliminated in the first round and injury kept her from competing in Beijing.

Brigitte will hope to bring a medal and title home for Spain who enjoyed a silver medal in yesterdays triathlon courtesy of Javier Gomez. Javier's team mate in the three discipline race was Mallorcan Mario Mola, who finished 19th over all.

Hopefully Brigitte will be able to make it onto the podium for Spain and Mallorca.
