New walking paths around the natural wetlands of s'Albufereta Nature Reserve have been created by the local government. At a cost of €383,000, 1.5km of marked trails have been created for the public to view the special fauna and flora of the area. The area is known for welcoming the stilt, the Kentish plover and the white puffin.

s'Albufereta ia mainly privately owned, and access for the public has been difficult in the past. These new trails have been introduced so that visitors can observe rare bird life, orchids and protected plants. The path starts at the Can Cuarassa restaurant, and guided tours are available on Saturdays - email to reserve a place, or book at the Albufera Natural Park. An additional, longer trail that starts from Posada de Verano can also be arranged.

Bird lovers will also be pleased to know that the Ornithologocal Centre - Gola - in Port de Pollenca (Calle de Temple Fielding) has opened to the public. The centre is open every week day from 9am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm, and visitors can enjoy an exhibition on the natural parks and their bird life, and enjoy walks through the wetland area (the 'gorge'). You can visit the Gola website here.
