Oktoberfest Mallorca 2012

Celebrate Oktober in Germany in Mallorca in September

Oktoberfest Mallorca is just one week away. It may seem a little strange to have a German October festival in Mallorca and in September but as of the 21st the Mallorca holiday beach resort of Santa Ponsa will play host to huge beer jugs, oomph bands and thigh-slapping leather-short wearing Germans.

The 2012 Oktoberfest Mallorca moves from Peguera to the pine forest on Santa Ponsa's beach front. It's also starting earlier this year to take advantage of the number of tourists enjoying the early September sun and it will run for 24 days from 21st September to the 14 October.

The project director Mika Ferrer promises a 2000 square metre terrace with live music, food and a whopping 50 000 litres of beer. This year the festival will also include a "Beer bike", a peddle powered bar that seats 16 people plus a driver. Sit, peddle, drink it's that simple.

The festival will be open everyday and the music will finish at midnight, though we suspect the party will continue for a while after that. It's free and open to the public.
