Palma kicks off the start of Christmas with a three day event, Nit del Born

Christmas is coming in Palma -Christmas lights to be turned on at 7pm tomorrow evening

The event starts at 7pm on Thursday 29th November with the Mayor of Palma turning on the Christmas lights. The Nit del Born will be hosted on the main shopping streets in Palma, the Passeig de Born, Carrer de la Unio, Avinguda de Jaume III and Placa del Mercat which will be transformed into a Christmas shopping wonderland.

Shoppers will be able to pass freely through the streets as the roads are closed to all traffic.

Shops will be open until midnight on Thursday and will lay out a red carpet along with other festive decorations to celebrate the turning on of the Christmas lights. Palma's Mayor Mateo Isern will be joined by Majorcan Olympians who competed at London 2012 in order to turn on the festive lights.

Other festivities taking place over the three day event include a Christmas Forrest in Casal Solleric, Christmas carollers and street performances from Santa Clauses on bicycles throwing out sweeties.

Events on Friday, 30th start at 6pm with a Christmas concert on Passeig de Born. Santa will also be present on Friday and continue sharing the festive spirit until 9pm.

On the 1st December there will be a concert at San Nicolas church in Palma from 12pm and the Christmas Forrest will be open again from 5pm-9pm.
