Pirates Charity Premiere Tonight

featured in News & reviews Author Chris Richard, Editor Updated

The Pirates Charity Premiere will be held later this evening at it’s purpose built theatre in Magaluf. This is the seventh year of the charity event where money is raised in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Over the past six years, over €500,000 has been donated to the Hospital where the money has been used to help fund specialised operating theatres and to open a special ‘Pirates’ treatment room. The event is supported and attended by a host of celebrities who help raise the profile of the event. Claire Sweeney, Sue Cleaver and Brooke Vincent are all long time supporters and are in town this weekend. Six families of children who are being treated by the hospital have also been able to come out for a weeks holiday, courtesy of First Choice, and with the help of the children’s charity at Great Ormond Street.

The Charity Gala night came about when members of the Pirates cast and crew decided that they wanted their opening night of the season to become a major event of the Mallorcan calendar, and to raise some money for a good cause at the same time. As Pirates is a mainly a family show, they chose to approach Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Thus the partnership was born, and many of the staff and performers from ‘Pirates’ have formed long-standing relationships with the hospital.

The Charity Gala includes an auction that will be held in the interval. Amongst the goodies up for grabs are a signed photo of Lewis Hamilton, holidays to Barbados and Las Vegas, and a signed Liverpool football team shirt. You can place a secret bid for all the items before the show or join in the fun at the auction itself. In addition, it will be possible to buy raffle tickets at €5 a pop. The Children’s Charity needs to raise £50 million every year to keep the hospital open and running, so every penny counts.

One of the most popular attractions in Spain, the Pirates Show is a high-octane, swashbuckling adventure spectacle, with world class acrobatics, thrilling stunts and breathtaking dancing, all performed on a specially designed stage. The show is accompanied by dinner and lashings of ‘pirate punch’. This year also sees the 25th anniversary of the Pirates Adventure show so there is a double celebration to be had this evening!

Tickets for the show (from €50) and for the after-show party (€25) are available at this website The show begins at 7:00 PM.
