The work to demolish the unfinished buildings at Sa Covetes on the southern tip of Mallorca has been finished and a plan to rejuvenate the area has begun.

The buildings that lie at the end of the beautiful Es Trenc beach on the southern peninsula of Mallorca had been an ugly eyesore for over two decades but were finally demolished this month. Work has now begun and an estimated 200 lorry loads of crushed stone and earth will be brought in to refill the site. Barriers will be erected to protect the new top soil from the coastal winds and a technician will irrigate the land to help with cohesion.

In an effort to ensure that the demolition work was completed before its deadline of May 26th the local council has allowed the use of beach beds and beach huts this summer. Es Trenc is a beautiful beach and this work and new allowances are part of an on going plan to make the beach more attractive and more accessible.
