Shops in Palma de Mallorca adopt new sale rules
New rules may mean bargains for shoppers in Mallorca
Many stores, especially in Palma, have adopted the new rules regarding when Sales can begin and bargains are already available in shops in Mallorca.
The new law was introduced in January and relaxes the rules on when shops are allowed to offer Sales to customers. In the past Sales could only begin on 1st January and 1st of July in the Balearics but in an effort to boost consumer spending the laws have been relaxed freeing up stores to offer discounted prices whenever they want
Owners of small and medium businesses fear that large franchises and supermarkets will be able to offer Sale prices on items all the time and claim there is a alack of control involved. What this means for Palma and Mallorca's small businesses remains to be seen but it looks like there may be another reason to go shopping next time you visit Palma.
