Results of a study into the most family-friendly holiday destination were announced by travel association, ABTA, this week at the annual travel convention in Palma de Mallorca. Spain topped the poll once again, after proving particularly popular with the 35-44 year old age group.

The findings came from a survey of over 2,000 British consumers. ABTA chief executive, Mark Tanzer, put Spain's on-going appeal down to ‘the amazing welcome and facilities that Spain and its people offer to families'. Spanish tourist office director, Ignacio Vasallo, commented, "We are delighted to see that, even in tough times, families continue to see Spain as their preferred holiday destination."

The UK was voted as the number two family holiday destination, with the majority of the votes coming from those aged over 55. The USA, France and Greece followed in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.
