This week three more yachts confirmed that they would be taking part in this summer´s Superyacht Cup in Palma. This completes the maximum number (19) of craft that can be berthed at The Superyacht Cup Village in the Old Port.

For the first time this year a professional race officer has been appointed to take charge of the competition. Premiere Racing’s founder, Peter Craig from Marblehead, USA, has a wide range of experience with top-level international regattas, including the Bucket Regattas and the Perini Navi Cup, the Maxi Rolex World Cup, the Swan World Championships and the Volvo Ocean Race. “I had a great time competing in the Superyacht Cup Palma on the schooner Meteor back in 2007,” said Craig. “I’m really pleased to be back.”

Yachts taking part in this the 2010 Superyacht Cup include last year’s winner, Gliss, Konkordia (formerly Kokomo), the Dubois designed sloop built by Alloy Yachts in New Zealand taking part in its first regatta under new owners, and new comer Saudade, an elegant and powerful yacht, designed by Tripp and built by Wally Yachts.

Many of the superyachts returned to Palma recently from the Caribbean and are currently undergoing refit work, general repairs and maintenance in preparation for the season ahead. The Superyacht Cup takes place from 23rd to 26th June.
