What's the first image that comes to mind when you think of Mallorca? Like most, you're probably picturing a tantalising beach on a warm summer's day. But recent snow falls due to the current cold snap have shown us another side to this island's colourful personality.

As temperatures fell to -2°C over the weekend, snow covered many parts of Majorca. The snow was a treat for locals and visitors alike, many of whom seized the chance to make a rare Majorcan snow man. Snow falls reached sea level and caused some minor troubles on the roads, but overall it provided a fun and novel experience for everyone. Temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days (don't tell the snow men) to the winter average which is between 5° and 9°C.
