The streets of Can Picafort were packed with thousands of fans who turned out for the Carl Cox and Friend’s concert on Friday night. Gates opened at 10pm, but it wasn’t until after midnight that the most of the people started leaving the streets, where groups had gathered to have their own parties, and headed into the sports arena to watch local and international DJ’s mix it up on stage.

Electric music duo Andy Cato and Tom Findlay better known as Groove Armada, entered the main stage at 2am, where they played some of their best known tracks such as ‘Superstylin’ to excited fans.

Carl Cox then made an appearance at 4am to take over from the Groove Armada boys. By this time the arena was packed with screaming fans, the atmosphere was high energy and as he mixed his first track, goosebumps ran up my spin and the crowd went wild. He was only meant to play until 6am but his fans kept screaming for more, and so not to disappoint he stayed on until 7am.

Event Organiser Lloyd Herman, spent months pre paring for the event. ‘It has been a lot of work to organise this event and afterwards I am looking forward to having a break, ‘ he says. He was pleased to see so many people turn out in support of the event as Mallorca is not well known for events such as these. Most people go to Ibiza to see some of the heavy weights in the music industry play live.

‘It has all been worth it though, as it is time that Mallorca hosted more international acts like this' said Mr Herman.

Can Picafort is located in Alcudia bay, and is 60kms north east of Palma. It is home to the large Sports Arena, which was the perfect location for such a massive crowd.
