Top Destinations & Top Prices!

Popular doesn't always mean cheap...

featured in News & reviews Author Pam Williamson, Mallorca Editor Updated

As we reported earlier this week the Balearic Islands are now amongst the most popular destinations for British tourists. A dramatic increase in the number of visitors to the Islands over the summer months secured their position at the top of the 'Holiday Destinations' list.

However, in new figures produced and published by Hoteles.com, the Hotel Price Index is showing that the Balearics have the largest price increase for hotels this year. With a rise of 22% on 2013's figures, the average price paid for a hotel room per night on Ibiza is a staggering €163. With Mallorca not far behind with €134, an increase of 15% compared to the first six months of last year. These figures are above the Spanish National average which sits at €107 for the first half of 2014.

These increases would certainly be in-line with the rise in interest in the Islands as a holiday destination, and are surely a sign that people are once again happy to spend money on themselves and enjoy a holiday abroad in the sunshine!
