The Michelin Guide announced their coveted Michelin stars for 2018 in Spain and Portugal at a ceremony that took place yesterday in Tenerife. No surprises were unveiled for Mallorca as the island retains the same 10 Michelin stars it had last year.
Zaranda is still the most awarded restaurant with two Michelin stars. Chef Fernando Pérez Arellano's eatery at Castell Son Claret Hotel in Es Capdellá, between Calviá and Andratx, got its second star in the 2016 guide and has retained it ever since.
Last year's newbies, Adrián Quetglas in the centre of Palma and Argos in Port de Pollença have also kept their stars. So have the rest of the Michelin starred restaurants on the island, including Es Fum near Palmanova, Marc Fosh in Palma, Es Racó d'Es Teix in Deià, Jardín in Port d'Alcudia, Andreu Genestra in Capdepera and Bou in Sa Coma.
Thanks to Mallorca, the Balearic islands are the seventh region in Spain in the number of Michelin stars, behind Cataluña, País Vasco, Madrid, Valencia, Andalucía and Galicia. Congratulations to all the winners!
