The lifeguards of Playa de Muro in the north of Mallorca have wrapped up their summer season and counted up the number of incidents that they attended...an amazing 3599 separate calls!

These incident range from attending to jellyfish stings to more serious sea rescues of people in distress. Although jellyfish stings are the most common injuries sustained on this family friendly and generally considered 'safe' beach, they amounted to only 277 incidents, much reduced from last year. It seems that jellyfish (the stinging kind at least!) were fewer in numbers this year in the waters around the coast. Last year saw a staggering 846 incidents.

So many thanks to all of those lifeguards who kept us safe this summer on the beaches of Mallorca!
