Easter Comes Early this Year

But it does not discourage tourist from travelling to the Balearic Islands

Last year saw the Easter holidays running directly into the summer season, without any break.

This year however, Easter will be at the beginning of April, leaving a gap of a few weeks before the official summer season kicks off in the island of Mallorca.

Although it will be difficult to keep things ticking over for these few weeks, hoteliers are already predicting a good occupancy rate for the Easter holidays. Around 80% of hotels are going to be open with an expected occupancy over that period of nearly 100,000 beds. These number are slightly better than last year and show an increase in domestic traffic as Spanish holiday makers return to the island for some sun, sea and sand!

The Balearics Tourism Board has also been taking part in numerous travel events across Europe which are expected to raise interest from countries such as France, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Austria and Ireland. Although the majority of tourists are still from Germany and the UK.

The aim is to have a tourist season that will last from early April until the start of November, so once open, hotels will remain operational.

So why not check out our hotel and accommodation listings, decide where you would like to stay and then get packing!
