Experts forecast record summer for Mallorca
FITUR, Spain's largest tourism industry fair, took place last week in Madrid
Yet more great news for the Balearics tourist sector! Experts believe that 2016 will be a record year in the number of visitors to the islands and the amount of money spent by them.
Germany, United Kingdom and Spain are the countries where most of these visitors will come from, with some hotels fully booked months before the season even starts.
This positive situation is mainly the consequence of the general lack of confidence in Northern African sunny countries like Tunisia, Egypt or Turkey, which are no longer direct competitors of the Spanish islands because of the fear of a terrorist threat.
The Balearics have showcased all that they have to offer at Madrid's international fair, focusing this year on culture and gastronomy, two areas that specialists think might bring people to Mallorca all year instead of just in the summer.
