The Evolution International Film Festival takes place in the city of Palma and celebrates the career of an industry figure every year. In 2016, Danny DeVito was awarded the Evolution Honorary Award and, this year, it's the turn of director Paul Haggis who will receive the Evolution Vision Award.

Paul Haggis will attend the festival's opening ceremony on October the 26th when his film 'Crash', which won three Oscars in 2006 including the award for Best Picture, will be screened. The Canadian filmmaker has also written scripts for several highly acclaimed films including Clint Eastwood's 'Million Dollar Baby', 'Flags of Our Fathers' and 'Letters from Iwo Jima', or James Bond movies 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum of Solace'.

The festival will showcase 12 feature-long films including Cannes title 'Thelma' and Sundance hit 'The Big Sick', and 8 documentaries as well as 30 short films and music videos. Palma will even be the setting of the national premiere of 'The Swan of Sway Lake' by director Ari Gold who will travel to Mallorca to present his work.

There will also be special screenings for children ('Films for Kids'), early sessions at Rialto Living's 'Café con Cine' (Coffee with Cinema) and a drive-in cinema at Port Adriano. The festival will close its doors on November 4th with an awards ceremony at San Juan Gastronomic Market.
