Groundbreaking villas in Mallorca 2017

Mallorcan villa shortlisted at 2017 World Architecture Festival

featured in Property news Author Ana Hernández, Mallorca Editor Updated

Where Eagles Dare villa, a stunning contemporary residence on a hilltop in Port d'Andratx, has been chosen among the 14 finalists at the World Architecture Festival villa awards.

Designed by Gras Arquitectos, the 1000m2 villa perfectly encompasses its British owner's wishes: to be able to enjoy 360º panoramic views of the valley and the Mediterranean while keeping his privacy. In order to achieve that, the studio created a glass box protected by a dramatic cantilever that makes it look like the house is flying off the hill like an eagle. Its name, 'Where Eagles Dare', conveys this concept.

Accessed through a front patio, the house is hidden by a garden with lush local flora including olive trees, lavender and rosemary, which is also where the infinity pool lays. The villa flows continuously from indoor to outdoor while maintaining the strictest sustainable standards. Inside, all of the bedrooms have access to a terrace and there is also a small spa, garage and gym.

The island of Mallorca has become a hotspot for contemporary, groundbreaking residential architecture. Only last year, Casa MM, an eco-efficient villa in Palma de Mallorca, was awarded the World Architecture Festival award. Good luck to Where Eagles Dare!
