Temperatures will rise up to 39ºC on the island

Today is set to be the hottest day in Mallorca this year so far. An African air mass has arrived in Spain and it will reach the island today, making temperatures soar to 39ºC. An orange alert has been issued.

The mercury already landed up at the higher end of the spectrum yesterday, getting to 37ºC. Southern Mallorca, especially the towns of Llucmajor, Campos and even central Palma will be the areas more intensely hit by the heatwave.

Things will cool down tomorrow with about 3 to 6 degrees less. Spain's National Meteorology Agency (AEMET) had predicted a very hot summer this year and, so far, it seems like the forecast is proving them right.

For those holidaying on the island right now, cool off on the beach or at one of the island's exclusive beach clubs.
