With the creation of the new Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy, it is expected that the island will become a hotspot for up and coming tennis stars. In addition the centre will be used as a facility to encourage and integrate children and young people living in poverty on Mallorca, into a more active lifestyle.

We also reported recently on other improvements for those with disabilities, with Mallorca leading the way as an alternative active destination. For years the islands popularity has been growing with respect to triathlons and Ironman competitions and it has very much been seen at one of the top spots for out of season training, for example with the Sky Cycling Team using as their winter training camp.

The town council in Capdepera in the north east of Mallorca have now announced plans to improve and create around 22 new hiking trails and bike paths in the region as a means of extending their tourist season and enhancing people's holiday experience. They already have a great sports centre in the area with indoor pool and multiple sports courts, and with the addition of nordic walking trails and other cycle paths it is hoped that his will become an all year round destination for those wishing to train and remain active during the winter months.

Mallorca's inclusive nature and attitude towards sports is one to be envied by other destinations and certainly one to be enjoyed by residents and tourists alike.
